Cayuga Lake Wine Trail

Dr. Konstantin Frank Wine Cellars
9749 Middle Rd.Hammondsport, NY 14840

Our approach to great winemaking is generational with each Frank family member building upon the foundation that Dr. Konstantin Frank built over fifty years ago. Continuing this legacy means producing the highest quality wines from the highest quality grapes. We believe that quality starts in the vineyards with careful attention to detail and nurturing of our old vine vineyards first planted by Konstantin in 1958. These old vine vineyards are among the oldest in the United States. While they produce fewer grapes, the quality of the fruit results in more complex wines.Over the years, we have discovered that the northern European grape varieties are most well suited for our region and have made it our passion to champion these varieties at are winery. Varieties such as Riesling, Gewürztraminer, Pinot Noir and most recently, Grüner Veltliner are among the most prized and beloved at our winery.

Cherry Knoll Farm and Winery
3426 Hoxie Gorge Freetown Road, Marathon, New York 13803

Cherry Knoll Farm offers u-pick blueberries, unique blueberry wines, juice, and vinegar.

Cherry Knoll Farm Winery is located in an upper valley just east of Interstate 81 in Central New York.

From the outside, the Winery looks very much like it has over the last many decades. Originally built around 1920, and often used as the “hen house”, the building looks very original ~ unless you look closely at the doors and windows. In those openings today you will find modern thermo doors and windows.

On the inside, the building has been totally remodeled into a winery, complete with insulation, drywall, electricity, plumbing, heating, floors, walk-in cooler, and all the equipment needed for making and bottling our 100% pure blueberry wines and vinegar.

The first wine was produced at Cherry Knoll Farm in 2002. It was used to make our first vinegar in 2003. “It takes a good wine to make good vinegar” – So why not wine. We were soon making wine, too. Blueberry Sweet was our first wine. Soon after, we had three more blueberry wines in production; Blueberry Semi-Sweet aged with Oak, then Blueberry Semi-Sweet (an early favorite) and Blueberry Dry. In 2008 we developed and began production of Blueberry Blossom Delight and Blueberry Bluetta.

Fox Run Vineyards
670 State Route 14 Penn Yan, NY 14527

Situated high on Torrey Ridge overlooking one of the deepest parts of Seneca Lake is Fox Run – with fifty-five acres of vineyards producing a remarkable range of fine wines. Under the dynamic, forward-looking ownership of Scott Osborn, Fox Run is poised to become one of the handful of truly great producers in the Finger Lakes. Scott Osborn is a strong advocate of the place of wine in a healthy life-style, and he appreciates the health benefits of garlic as well. On a culinary level, as the Fox Run Garlic Festival demonstrates, the pairing of good wine and well-prepared flavorful garlic is nothing short of sublime. Native grape varieties put the Finger Lakes on the map a century and half ago, and French-American hybrids, bred for cold resistance, still have an important niche in the region. But Osborn is convinced that non-hybrid European Vinifera grapes can yield wine excellent enough to put the Finger Lakes in the ranks of the world’s top fine wine producers.
